Siren - Società Italiana Reti Neuroniche

The Società Italiana Reti Neuroniche (SIREN) is the oldest Italian society, founded in 1989, dealing with Artificial Neural Networks. Created by an intuition of Prof. Eduardo Caianiello, who in 1988 gathered in Vietri some of the most representative Italian scientists in the field of neuroscience found hospitality at the Italian Institute for Advanced Scientific Studies (IIASS, http://www.iiassvietri.it/it/), located  in Vietri sul Mare (SA), Italy. At IIASS,  every year is organized the International Workshop on Neural Networks (WIRN) that gathers together Italian and international research groups working in the field.

The current President is Prof. Anna Esposito of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli,” Department of Psychology (https://www.psicologia.unicampania.it/home-becogsy).

Throughout these years numerous Presidents have continued the work of Prof. Caianiello, the first president of SIREN.  The SIREN’s presidents for the last 20 years have been:

Prof. Eros Pasero (2014-2022), Politecnico di Torino, Italy

Prof. Francesco Carlo Morabito (2008-2014), Università Mediterranea della Calabria, Italy

Prof. Bruno Apolloni (2002-2008), Università di Milano, Italy

Together with the president the SIREN activities are defined and approved by the STEERING COMMITTEE, researchers coming from different Italian Universities, and the INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY, researchers coming from different International Universities (https://www.siren-neural-net.it/wirn-2022/committees/).
